Recently, we were invited to feature in several editions of British Vogue. An amazing accolade for a relatively young brand and a welcome endorsement of our natural organic baby wear and gift sets. As we sat down to construct the article for Vogue, we began to consider what brought us to this point and the constant source of inspiration that drives our creativity.
Simply put, it is the place we are lucky enough to call headquarters and home, Dorset. Our team takes influence from the county’s diverse natural habitats. It is no surprise, therefore, that we are ecologically minded and sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
For those less familiar with England’s geography, Dorset is one of the oldest and most beautiful counties in the country, immortalised in the novels of Thomas Hardy. The county has one of the highest proportions of conservation areas in England and two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) covering half the county, two heritage coasts and Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
Dorset’s landscape is a combination of broad elevated chalk downs, steep limestone ridges and low-lying clay valleys. Three quarters of its 100 miles of coastline is part of the Jurassic Coast, the only Natural World Heritage Site in England.
Quite apart from the abundance of flora and fauna on land, Dorset’s has one of the largest natural harbours in the world, home to a myriad of marine species and the most botanically rich in the UK.
So, plenty of inspiration out there for our next collection…and the one after that!
